I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review
Karen is meant to be the one who fixes problems.
It’s her job, as a psychiatrist – and it’s always been her role as a friend.
But Jessica is different. She should be the patient, the one that Karen helps.
But she knows things about Karen. Her friends, her personal life. Things no patient should know.
And Karen is starting to wonder if she should have let her in . . .
What did I think?
Wow, what have I just read?! Before I Let You In was devoured in one day, I literally could not put it down. I needed to know all about Karen and Jessica and the funniest part of me saying that is I didn’t realise until I’d put the book down how invested in their story I really was!
I annoyingly thought I’d guessed the story from about 50 pages in and was slightly disappointed at that moment in time as I was expecting great things, but little did I know that Before I Let You In was deceiving me and I was led down a road I never expected.
Jenny Blackhurst has a such a great writing skill, Before I Let You In manipulates you to a place you feel comfortable and keeps a slow and steady pace throughout, you’re sat there comfortably thinking “Yeah, I know where this goes, I’ve figured it out already” and then bam! You’re left with egg on your face because I can guarantee you’ve been wrong the whole way through.
A fantastic read and potentially one of my favourite reads so far – it will take a great deal more to beat this to my favourite read of 2017! I have How I Lost You by Jenny Blackhurst on my TBR shelf – that will most definitely be getting bumped to the top!
My Rating? ♥♥♥♥♥
Will you be adding this to your TBR pile?
