Matt Seattle Never Saw The Trouble Coming.Never Expected It From So Many Different Directions. Matt Seattle, a Sarasota stockbroker, befriends an older stock enthusiast, Joe Jesso. During one of their weekly Wednesday morning sessions, Joe announces he’s gotten married. A week later, Joe dies.
Believing Joe may have been the victim of a black widow, Matt hires an investigator to look into Joe’s death. The investigator finds old Joe wasn’t so innocent; he embezzled money from a drug cartel. Suddenly, Matt finds himself battling Joe’s widow and her shyster lawyer who want his money, The National Association of Security Dealers who wants his broker’s license, and, oh yes, the cartel who wants his life. It’s enough to turn any bull into a bear.
What did I think?
I got Blindsided when it was free on the Amazon Kindle store (and at the time of writing this, it is still free!), I wasn’t expecting too much from it as the cover looked basic and I’ve not had much luck with free eBooks from Amazon before; however Jay Giles has surprised me with Blindsided.
It was a good read but unfortunately I felt that the whole story plot of Blindsided was covered on the book description. Giles could have easily kept the cartel and NASD’s involvement out of the blurb and kept it for a twist factor to the book. That’s not saying that there wasn’t a twist in the book…but it was an obvious one as you read on so I guess you could say that there wasn’t one?
I think that Giles did a good job at keeping you interested, he managed to keep me reading until the end and I think this was because he kept me interested in the characters story and not necessarily the books; this is why it has a three heart review and not a four.
I wouldn’t be in a hurry to read the book again, but that’s not to say I wouldn’t read other books by Giles.
My Rating? ♥♥♥
Will you be adding this to your TBR pile?
