How would you feel if, one day, you discovered everything you thought you knew about your family was a fabrication? Your mother wasn’t your mother, your father was a liar and your whole upbringing was a sham. Confronted with this exact situation, Dave Fazackerley doesn’t feel great. It doesn’t help that he has just buried the woman he thought of as his mother. Or that his wife, his one true soulmate, recently jumped into bed with a librarian. Even his band, his only escape from reality, is going through a rough patch.
How will Dave respond? Will he discover the truth about his family? Will his band ever play a gig again? More importantly, can Dave entice his wife back from the arms of the book-dork or will he take a chance on a new love?
What did I think?
This is Ben Adams second book that he has published and it is absolutely fantastic. He has really managed to tackle a range of subjects throughout the book and has written such an enjoyable read.
Adams has incorporated humour and wit in to what is also a very serious book. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and was always kept on the edge of my seat as Adams swung the book in a different direction without any warning. I love how Adams has the ability to put humour in to situations most would find distressing and difficult to deal with – it’s nice to read a light, heart-warming novel that shows that ‘the grass is always greener’.
I was pleasantly surprised that Adams tied all of the events throughout the book together perfectly, initially I thought it was going to be quite a ‘busy’ book and difficult to follow because of the different topics Adams was covering, but he well and truly nailed it.
I absolutely loved this book and have added Adams debut novel ‘Six Months to Get A Life’ to my reading pile – watch this space for that review, I hope it’ll be as good as Six Lies!
My Rating? ♥♥♥♥♥
Will you be adding this to your TBR pile?
