He will predict your life… and your death.
Don’t ever cross his palm with silver. He will reveal your most shameful secrets. He will predict your death. He is hiding a secret. He is hiding a monster. And all his predictions come true.
Investigating a series of chilling murders, Detective Jennifer Knight finds herself tracking a mysterious tarot card reader known only as The Raven.
As the death toll rises, Jennifer and her team build a picture of a serial killer on the edge of sanity, driven by dark forces. But these are not random killings. And the method behind the madness could be the most terrifying thing of all …Especially when it seems the death of one of their own is on the cards.
What did I think?
Firstly, I was impressed with this book; it is actually the second book in a series following Detective Jennifer Knight so I was slightly sceptical to read it considering I have not read the first book in the series. However, unlike most books that are part of a series you could not tell. You learnt and understood the characters throughout the book and Mitchell has only provided small snippets from the previous book which were seamlessly incorporated in to ‘Time to Die’.
The book kept me hooked; you can relate to the characters and you try and do your own investigating and predictions on how/if Jennifer will catch The Raven and The Reborners. Towards the end of the book, there are a few twists some of them were slightly disappointing but the main ‘finale’ was unpredictable. Mitchell swung the book in to a completely different direction to what you could have ever imagined; this made the book turn in to a four heart review instead of the three hearts I was planning to give it throughout the book.
I’m not usually a fan of paranormal books/films but I was pleasantly surprised when I finished ‘Time to Die’. Not only does Mitchell keep the paranormal sections of this book quite low-key, she also manages to incorporate the theme in to the whole book without too much force but also ties it all together with ‘vanilla’ police investigation. I will definitely be reading the first book in the series (‘Don’t Turn Around‘) and will be keeping my eyes peeled for future DC Jennifer Knight books in this series!
My Rating? ♥♥♥♥
Will you be adding this to your TBR pile?
